This is an infra-red photo of Sukura-jima within the bay of Kagoshima at the south peak of Japan. The volcano spews ashes out of one of his two slots almost daily.

The Russian volcano Klyuchevskaya on the peninsula Kamtschatka. The picture of this eruption was taken 4 years ago. The volcano is 4750 m high, the smoke reaches the height of 14 km in the troposphere. In the background on the left you can see the river Kamtschatka which flows into the Bering Strait.

The american  Mount Rainier in the state of Washington.   The volcano reaches a height of 4392 m. He is inactive since 1850.
